Rules & Regulations

Everyone can submit photographs to the photo contest whether they be amateur or professional photographers. Every month a person can send up to 5 pictures per category. Also, one may send the same pictures again, but only in case of pictures that never before won the "Best Pictures of the Month" title. However the same picture may not be submitted more than once in 3 months.

Photographs submitted to the contest must be only those taken by the contestant. A photo of someone else's photo is not acceptable.

Photographs taken by digital camera or standard camera and scanned both will be accepted.

If a photograph shows any person(s) in a way that the person(s) can be recognized, the contestant must get an approval of the person(s) involved. Neither this site nor the organizer of the photo contest will be responsible for any claims against infringement of the right of privacy by the picture submitted.

The following photo categories may be chosen from:

Landscapes (mountains, deserts, sea, lakes, rivers, sunsets, sky and clouds, underwater, etc.)
Nature (trees, plants, animals, birds, fish, insects, etc.)
People (portraits, family pictures, children, people's life, sports, fashion, etc.)
Artistic Nudes (pornography or images close to pornography will not be accepted)
Architecture (city landscapes, buildings, interiors, etc.)
Photographer's Choice (cars, trains, planes, food, humor, etc. - pictures not fitting in categories mentioned above)
Digital Art (photo collage, pictures digitally changed)
The originals must be photographs and taken by the contestant.

The organizer of the photo contest reserves the right to change the category chosen by contestant. In that case the contestant will be notified about the changes by e-mail.

Pictures displaying copyright notes, date marks or other written information on it, as well as pictures with advertisements, will not be accepted. Pornography or images close to pornography, pictures showing violence, etc., as well as pictures that might violate law or common rules also will not be accepted.

The resolution of the photographs must be 72 dpi, and the picture file must be saved in the JPEG format (file_name.jpg). The photograph's size can be chosen from the following:

height 315, width 380 pixels
height 300, width 400 pixels
height 285, width 420 pixels
height 265, width 450 pixels
height 245, width 490 pixels
height 380, width 315 pixels
height 400, width 300 pixels
height 420, width 285 pixels

The picture file size must be of not more than 60 kb (61,440 bytes). Also, please do not put any kind of frames around the picture.

Regarding digital editing, trimming, slight changes of brightness or contrast as well as slight color improvements are allowed for every category as long as the changes are applied to the picture as a whole. However, if changes are made only to some parts of the picture, or if changing an original picture's image or using a composite of pictures, accept for Artistic Nudes, the Digital Art category must be chosen.

Copyright in the submitted photographs remains the property of the contestant. However, the organizer of the photo contest reserves unlimited right to display the photographs on this site.

Regarding privacy, no private data submitted to the photo contest will be passed to third parties. Also, after the display time is over, all submitted data will be erased.

After the photograph is submitted, within a few days it will start being displayed in the "Photo Plaza" corner of this site, and the contestant will be notified by e-mail. However, pictures that violate the rules of the contest will not be displayed and no mail will be sent to the person submitting them. Also, even after a picture is displayed, if it is decided that the picture violates the rules, displaying of such a picture will be discontinued, and even in case of winning a prize, the reward can be canceled.

To make sure that all submitted photographs will have the same chances of winning, all categories will be judged separately. Also, there is no limit to the number of pictures that can win - every picture meeting the standard for it's category will win the title of "Best Pictures of the Month". Also, to assure objective rating of all pictures, there are limits set for continuous rating of the same picture by the same visitor to this site.

By submitting his picture to the contest, the contestant agrees to obey all local and international laws that may apply. Also, all taxes and tariffs due upon receipt of any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Every effort will be made to assure the photo contest runs smoothly, but neither this site nor the organizer of the photo contest will be responsible for any loses or damages to submitted photographs or other data, that can occur as a result of computer viruses, server or internet related problems, etc. Also please be notified that in case of such problems the photo contest may be suspended or canceled.

These rules are subject to change, so please read them carefully every time you submit your pictures.

About the winners and the prizes.

Best Pictures of the Month
At the end of each month every picture that meets the standard for it's category will be chosen as the "Best Pictures of the Month". There is no limit to the number of pictures that can win. All the winning pictures will be displayed in the "Winners" corner for a period of one year, starting from the day of announcement of winners. During that time, if the winner has a home page showing his or her photo collection, and if the winner wishes, a link to that page can be established to expand the traffic to that page. The link will be established only if the contents of such pages meet the same standards as those required for entry in the photo contest. If this condition is violated, the link will be cut off.

Best Pictures of the Year
Every year, at the end of May from pictures displayed in the "Winners" corner, the "Best Pictures of the Year" will be chosen and the following cash prizes will be awarded:
